Is Healthy Snacking a Myth?
— April 11, 2012You made the decision to lose weight, but it’s sometimes hard to remain focused. You exercise, you try to eat healthy, heck, you even went and bought a body shaper to slim down faster…but there is always an obstacle that stands in the way of you and your ideal weight, the dreaded afternoon snack attack.
Whether you work at a desk or in a factory, every day, at the same time, you get this undeniable craving to eat something sweet. Your blood sugar levels are lower and you often reach for what is available to you, that quick fix of sugar that often comes in the shape of a candy bar or a carbonate drink.
Snacking, believe it or not, is a healthy thing to do. If done well, it can even help you lose weight this is why it is important to choose what to eat. A healthy snack should give you about 200 to 300 of your daily calories. It should be enough to keep you going until dinner, but not too much so that you will still be hungry when dinner time actually arrives. It is wiser to add to a little extra protein to your snacks since it will help you burn fat in the long run. Add a little bit of peanut butter to your apple or eat a slice of cheese with your fresh grapes. Just remember to enjoy what you are eating. The slower you eat, the faster you will feel satisfied and the guilt that comes with snacking will not manifest itself again.
