Fearful Thinking
— May 12, 2014What are women’s most common fears?
We are all afraid of something. No matter what our gender, age or social situation, there is something out there in the world that frightens us. However, while most fears, like being afraid of insects for example, are external, the most common fears that a many women experience everyday are internal.
Family Related Fears
- The ticking of the biological clock – will I get to be a mother?
- The stress of pregnancy and the pain of childbirth
- The health, safety & well-being of her children
- Balancing family with a successful career
Personal Fears
- Am I pretty enough
- Am I smart enough
- Am I thin enough
- Am I “enough”
- Am I liked?
Getting Older Fears
- Looking older and no longer feeling attractive (can you say wrinkles, age spots, weight gain and grey hair?)
- Will I have enough money for retirement?
- Will I end up alone?
- Will my husband/partner/lover leave me?
I think many women, more so than men, worry about the “what ifs” and the “maybes”. It’s so important to make a conscious effort to live in the present and to take the time to enjoy what life has given you. Love and be happy yourself and you will feel those unwanted fears start to fade from your mind.
Now that you know some of the common fears women have are, we would like to know “What are you afraid of?” Head over to our Facebook page and take our quick survey to view the results. And of course, let us know if your fear is missing from our list.
